Informal Sport ARC Linkage

ECU is seeking a PhD candidate to undertake research with an established Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project team, investigating informal sport as a health and social resource for young people.

The Project

The ARC Linkage Project is designed to support government, sport and health agencies to develop new policy guidance and resources to grow informal sport opportunities, particularly for diverse young people. The successful candidate will be supported to develop a project that complements the team's data collection and extends the research in Western Australia, by for example, investigating gendered dimensions of informal sport, or innovative approaches in particular sport or community settings.

Eligibility guidelines

  • Candidates need to be eligible for PhD course enrolment and have relevant research and industry experience.

  • A full CV;
  • Relevant transcripts from previous study; and
  • A written statement addressing the below questions:
    • What interest and/or experience do you have in informal sport?
    • What research skills and experience do you have?
    • What knowledge of sport or community development do you have?
    • What issues in particular would you like to explore in the PhD project?
    • What personal qualities would you bring to the project?
