Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Study abroad Scholarships

Through Edith Cowan University’s ongoing partnership with one of the world’s leading conservatoires, music students at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) have the opportunity to broaden their horizons through substantial scholarships for overseas postgraduate studies. WAAPA and the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) are providing joint scholarships, worth £10,000 (A$18,600) towards tuition fees, to enable two of WAAPA’s graduating classical music students to undertake a year of postgraduate study at the RNCM in Manchester with the recipients commencing their postgraduate studies in the UK in September 2020.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be completing one of the following courses in Semester 2, 2019
      • Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance - Vocal) L66 MABUVA;
      • Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance - Instrumental) L66 MABUUZ; or
      • Classical Vocalists or Instrumentalists in the J40 Master of Arts (Performing Arts).

Selection criteria

Selection will be based on:

  • a submitted personal statement outlining your plans for the future and detailing how study at the RNCM would benefit you;
  • a letter of recommendation from your teacher/area head or from another professional musician.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a 20-minute interview/performance in late November.
