Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships (RRES) - Creative Arts

The Creative Arts Scholarships help eligible students in regional and remote areas of Australia access a Bachelor level degree in creative arts. The scholarships also give students, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, more opportunities towards a career in Australia’s vibrant creative arts industry.

At a glance

The Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships will improve educational attainment and skills development opportunities for regional and remote students. Through tertiary study and internship opportunities, Scholarship Recipients can obtain important job-related skills, as well as strengthening their foundational literacies, socio-emotional skills and higher-order cognitive skills. They will be better equipped to adapt to the changing nature of work in a technologically advanced economy.

Eligible students may receive up to $18,000 each (e.g. for a full-time, four-year qualification). Shorter, part-time qualifications are paid on a pro-rata basis. An extra $500 is also available to support an internship.

Eligibility guidelines

To be considered for a Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarships - Creative Arts, you must meet all the eligibility criteria below:

  • You must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, holder of a permanent humanitarian visa, or a New Zealand citizen living in Australia.
  • Have commenced the first year of your Eligible Course of Study in Semester 1, Semester 2 or Trimester 3 of 2021.
  • Studying a Bachelor degree or Bachelor Honours degree full time or part time
  • Have commenced a course of study which falls within the Creative Arts Field of Education (Category 10). Please refer to the Australian Bureau of Statistics website for further information.
  • Be studying on campus, online or via distant education
  • Your permanent home address must be in a regional or remote area as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS).
  • Applicants must not have relocated to a major city more than 3 months prior to commencing their chosen course of study.

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed on two main selection criteria:

  1. Financial Need: You will need to provide documentary evidence to demonstrate financial need.
  2. Capability: You must provide a written response describing:
    • A past educational achievement; AND/OR
    • A work achievement; AND/OR
    • Other achievements that help to demonstrate your ability to undertake your Eligible Course of Study.

Scholarship applications must include:

  • Evidence of Australian Citizenship, permanent residency, permanent humanitarian via or being a New Zealand citizen living in Australia.
  • Proof of residence in a regional or remote area in Australia (see Section 5.1 of the Program Outline)
  • If you have relocated to a major city to study, evidence of relocation from your permanent regional home address must be provided.
  • Evidence to support any other considerations that may be relevant as per Section 7 of the Program Outline
