The WA Women's Society of Fine Arts and Crafts Travel & Exhibition Scholarship

The WA Women's Society of Fine Arts and Crafts Travel & Exhibition Scholarship will be offered to an ECU female student who is enrolled in her 2nd year of a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts degree course, (majoring in Visual Arts,  Contemporary Fashion or Photomedia), or  commencing her 2nd semester of a Master of Arts (Visual Arts) by Coursework or 2nd semester of a Master of Arts by Research. Students entering ECU before 2016 and who are undertaking the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Creative Industries majoring in photomedia, fashion or visual arts will also be eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship which will open annually was established to assist and encourage female students studying majors in Visual Art, Photomedia and/or Contemporary Fashion to undertake study overseas or to financially support exhibitions and performances that enhance the learning experience of their chosen program of study

Amount: Up to $10,000 to be utilised within the 12 month period immediately following the offer of the scholarship

Eligibility requirements

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • be female students
  • have successfully completed first year of her full time study (120 credit points) in an Undergraduate Bachelor degree of Arts (majoring in Visual Arts, Photomedia or Contemporary Fashion) OR the preceding undergraduate Bachelor degrees of Arts or Creative Industries (majoring in Visual Arts, Photomedia and Contemporary Fashion) OR successfully completed one (1) semester of her full time study (60 credit points) in either a Master of Arts (Visual Arts) by Coursework or Master of Arts by Research
  • be enrolled /enrolling into the second (2nd year) or her Undergraduate course OR second (2nd semester) of her Master course
  • be enrolled in full time units (60 credit points)
  • not be in receipt of any other major scholarships
  • current students are expected to have maintained an academic status of good standing at the end of each semester (as defined in the ECU handbook)


  • Australian citizen
  • Australian permanent resident visa

Level of study

  • UG - Undergraduate bachelor courses
  • PG - Postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research

Year of study

  • 2nd year for undergraduate course
  • 1st year for master course


Study mode

  • Full-time, on-campus
  • Full-time, off-campus

Applicant information

Applicants will be required to provide a personal written statement as part of their application which describes in brief the following:

  • intended study plan or project
  • an explanation on why you have chosen this institution / exhibition space / placement and how this links with your study plan or project
  • an explanation on why this project is important for you to undertake at this time in your studies
  • an explanation on how this project will benefit your study program
  • itemise any associated costs with your Overseas Study or Exhibition / Performance


The selection of recipients will be based on the content of their application and the information provided in statement.
