Expanding on the Australian Government Women’s Leadership and Development Program (WLDP), the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office for Women have awarded a $1.5m grant to the FPA to administer scholarships that encourage and assist women, particularly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to enter, re-enter and achieve leadership roles across the financial services sector. The aim of these scholarships is to help create a talent pool and pipeline for diversity in business leadership for the future. The Scholarship value will vary and will be paid towards 2023 tuition fees.

Eligibility guidelines
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- be an Australian citizen, or an Australian permanent resident;
- identify as female;
- be able to demonstrate financial need;
- be intending to upskill or refresh skills in finance and economics to help enter, re-enter, and achieve leadership roles in the financial services industry;
- be enrolled in first year of one of the approved courses listed below;
- be enrolled in a minimum of 15 credit points;
- have and maintain an academic progression status of GREEN.
An additional focus should be on applicants demonstrating intersecting sources of disadvantage, including but not limited to, women who:
- Are re-entering the workforce
- Have low socio-economic status
- Are mature age (50 years of age plus) or young (between 16 and 35 years old)
- Are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Are new migrants
- Are living in rural and remote areas

How to apply
Application is made via the ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the portal is available between application opening and closing dates.
Applicants will be required to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing the below;
- Describe your current financial situation and how this Scholarship would assist you if successful
- This scholarship is targeted at students intending to upskill or refresh skills in finance and economics to help enter, re-enter, and achieve leadership roles in the financial services industry. Discuss how you meet this requirement.
Selection Process
Eligible applications will be assessed by a Selection Committee.
