Media and Cultural studies is an innovative major in its approach to examining the history and politics of everyday culture in relation to the impact of all forms of media in society, both nationally and globally. It has been recognised as a leading Cultural Studies course in Australia. It provides critical insights in regards to our ever increasing visual culture and the skills to develop cultural commentary, theoretical engagement and concerns for social justice, across all forms of production. Units such as Media and Nation, Sex, Travel and Global Media, Media and Popular Culture, and Digital Media Activism provide insights into traditional and digital media. The course is led by internationally published academics and creative practitioners that have been recognised for outstanding teaching. Research in Communications and Cultural Studies is at world standing according to the Australian Research Council. The focus on outstanding communication and critical skills provides a strong major that complements creative majors.
