This research investigated employee likelihood of misusing information systems (ISs), awareness of IS policy, perceptions of IS policy effectiveness and enforcement, and the perceived costs and benefits associated with IS misuse. A mixed method approach consisting of two stages was incorporated. Stage one involved the administration of a survey to the population of WA Police. Stage two was qualitative and involved semi-structured interviews with WA Police employees who self-identified within the survey as IS misusers. The Edith Cowan University Human Research Ethics Committee approved the conduct of this research.
