Resettlement pathways for prisoners returning to the community

The management of Acacia Prison was concerned about the recidivist. This focus of this project was to speak to prison inmates who were in the last phases of their imprisonment to ascertain the fears or concerns they had for their release.

Participants identified a number of issues relating to employment and financial security with which they were able to be assisted by the Resettlements staff, but they also spoke of other fears and anxieties for which programs had not previously been devised. This enabled the Resettlement staff and the Programs staff to create specific courses or programs.
