You are invited to view the works of Laura Margaret titled Conceiving Perceiving, exhibiting at Spectrum Project Space.
This body of work collates Laura Margaret’s Honours project, utilising performance-video-installation, print media and artists’ books, to explore notions of the Self and the artist’s relationship to space and audience. The exhibit involves interplay between digital and traditional mediums to create several layers of interpretation and participatory engagement. The work utilises the artist’s body, its presence and absence, to discuss shifting perceptions, blurring the distinction between subject and object, artist and artwork.
Laura Margaret is an emerging visual artist undergoing a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Visual Arts at Edith Cowan University. Margaret’s main discipline is printmaking and installation, the material quality to her work is significant, often utilising unusual papers and iridescent or metallic mediums to explore relations between the body and expression. Previously exploring themes of male identity and social myths concerning masculinity, Margaret’s current work discusses the relation of the body to the world in terms of existentialist theory.
