The West Coast Eagles have joined up with the marketing team in the School of Business and Law to provide students with a real opportunity to develop a social media plan for the club.
Dr Violetta Wilk recently secured an opportunity for her Social Media Marketing students, by partnering with the West Coast Eagles (WCE) for the development of a Social Media Marketing Campaign. The students were given a brief by Mr Shane Chapman, Manager of Commercial Business at the WCE and Edith Cowan University alumnus, early in the semester.
Throughout the semester, students developed their campaigns in teams of 3-5 students, with the winning two teams awarded in two sections: ‘Highest Mark’ and ‘WCE Choice’.
It was a great opportunity for the students to create a real, live, industry Social Media Marketing Campaign.
‘Having Mr Shane Chapman from WCE coming into the class to give us (i.e. students) a ‘real’ brief, made the Social Media Marketing class feel very authentic. It definitely added a new layer to my semester’ says student Anna Froederberg.
Winners for ‘Highest Mark’ award: James Morrison, Anna Froederberg, Molly Goodwin, Graycen Hannan and James Humphries
Winners for ‘WCE Choice’ award: Toni Hughes, Gina Kennealey, Lenora Isaku
Congratulations to our students and a big thank you to the West Coast Eagles for partnering with School of Business and Law and Edith Cowan University, and, specifically, to Mr Shane Chapman, for being involved throughout the whole semester and bringing the industry into the classroom.
