ECU Early Career Researcher Grants 2020: Six successful applications from School of Business and Law

It is with pleasure that the School of Business and Law announces a number of successful Early Career Researcher (ECR) grants have been award for 2020. From a strong field of 34 applications, 17 were funded, and six of those were from the School of Business and Law.

The Early Career Researcher (ECR) Grant Scheme supports promising ECU early career researchers to progress their independent research careers. Researchers can apply for funding to conduct a research project that will help develop their track record and enhance their research competitiveness. The scheme aims to provide ECU researchers with experience in applying for research funding and in undertaking and managing a research project as a lead Chief Investigator. Awards for the 2020 Round is for 12 months and a maximum of $30,000 can be applied for.

The six researchers (Chief Investigators) from School of Business and Law, with accompanying Project Title and Amount Awarded:

  • Dr Edmund Goh: “Generation Z hospitality students’ intentions to join the hospitality profession in Australia”. Amount awarded: $29,834
  • Dr Deepa Bannigidadmath: “Financial and economic impacts of climate change in Australia”. Amount awarded: $28,273.
  • Dr Jun Wen: “The effects of legislation related to voluntary assisted dying on tourists’ destination image and travel intentions in Western Australia”. Amount awarded:  $19,928
  • Dr Stephanie Meek: “The development and validation of a multidimensional diversity awareness scale (DAS): A Universal model”. Amount awarded: $17,378
  • Dr Soheil Kazemian: “Carbon Management Accounting: Explaining Practice in Leading Australian companies”. Amount awarded: $14,769
  • Dr Tricia Ong: “Are charities and not-for-profits organisations adequately prepared for new challenges in reporting requirements?”. Amount awarded: $14,162
