Rovik, a 4th year Mechatronics & Motorsports student at Edith Cowan University, headed to the Australian Finals of the competition after taking out the Regional PATW. He competed against the State and Territory winners from across Australia, who were all graduate engineers, but still emerged the winner.

Present Around The World is a global competition, based in the UK, for young professionals and students within engineering. Earlier last year, Olsen was a member of a finalist team in the National Instruments, Autonomous Robotics Competition (NIARC). The team had to design and build a robotic system that successfully navigated a dynamic hospital environment to deliver medicine packages on a budget. At the PATW competition, Rovik presented on his experience of undertaking the mechanical design and the unique software features and electrical systems employed to complete this project.

Next stop – Auckland, in August, for the Asia Regional Finals and from there, maybe even the Global Final in November in London.

Congratulations, Rovik!
