In the field of sports, players’ performance and fitness are key concerns for managers and coaches. Over the past decade electronic performance tracking systems (EPTS) have been developed for the motion tracking and analysis of the movement of the human body. Errors in data acquisition, the cumbersome process of acquiring the data (visual-based systems, fingerprinting etc.) and inaccuracy in tracking the actual body movement of players remain major issues in these systems. To develop EPTS, this research proposes a combination of ultra-wide band (UWB)-based indoor positioning system (IPS) and inertial measuring units (IMU).
