The efficacy of HCV treatment has improved significantly over the past decade and cure as measured by sustained response to antiviral treatment is now possible. The Federal Government has set aside over $1 billion over five years to subsidise a range of breakthrough medicines on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) that could all but eradicate Hepatitis C in Australia within a generation.
Primary care practitioners have a critical role in the provision of information, support, initial assessment, treatment, specialist referral if required, as well as ongoing clinical management and monitoring.
The two educational videos were developed in partnership with Hepatitis WA, which is a non-profit community-based organisation providing free services to the community.
HepatitisWA aims to assist in obtaining the best possible care and support for people affected by hepatitis, reducing discrimination and stigma directed at people living with viral hepatitis and raising community awareness in relation to hepatitis.
