Ethics

Before any research data collection can commence you must first obtain ethics clearance.

We have a commitment to ensure the research of staff and students is ethically conducted. Ethics is important for:

  • the humane care of animals used for scientific purposes, including teaching; and
  • the protection of the welfare and the rights of human participants.

Ethics approval protects participants (human or animal), the researcher, the University and the community.

All Honours students conducting research will require ethics approval for their project. You must either submit an:

  • Ethics Declaration; or
  • Ethics Application.

Both the Ethics Declaration Form and the Ethics Application should be completed with your supervisor and submitted online via STREAM.

For further information about ethics including resources, policies, guidelines and the Human Research Ethics Committee or the Animal Ethics Research committee meeting schedule, visit the Ethics and Research web pages.
