The Football Science program in the School of Medical and Health Sciences is a unique program in Australia specialising in the game of Football (Soccer) and Australian Rules Football (AFL). Using our world-class laboratory facilities, equipment, and indoor/outdoor fields, students gain the foundational knowledge and practical skills to apply exercise and sports science skills to the game of Football. Students are prepared through theory and hands-on practice with the career skills to coach, test and analyse players and game performance, implement strength and conditioning programs, handle injuries, and lead teams.
Within the Football Science program, students have the opportunity to participate in structured vocational training and placements. Students have gained valuable, hands-on training in private and government schools, as well as various football clubs, including roles with the West Coast Eagles, Western Force and Perth Glory. Some students have also had experiences at National Premier League clubs in Perth and West Australian Football League clubs.
