Year 12 students all around the state are finishing up their studies in preparation for their final exams. Many are studying ATAR subjects with the view to studying at university. Every year, ECU hosts a week of free four-hour exam revision sessions. This year the School of Science organised this substantial event for a variety of Year 12 subjects, taught by experienced high school teachers with extensive ATAR experience. We enjoyed showcasing our beautiful campuses while alleviating some of the stress that comes with Year 12 final exams.
This year at our South West campus, ECU offered six ATAR subjects over the week; Chemistry, Human Biology, Maths Applications, English, Physics, and for the first time, Biology. At our Joondalup campus, we offered all of the above plus Maths Specialist. Some students were lucky enough to be taken on intimate guided tours of our Joondalup campus, including going into our well-stocked Chemistry and Biology labs, and observing ECUs world-class Engineering and Motorsport facilities. More than 1400 students attended the sessions over the course of five days.
Verbal feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from both students and parents, “This is a great resource”, and “I feel like I learned more in four hours than I have all year! I’m feeling so much more confident about my exam now.”
ECU aims to continue to offer this free service. The sessions take place in the first week of the Term 3 holidays each year, so keep an eye on our website for when registrations open in 2018.
