The Centre for Marine Ecosystems Research (CMER) member and PhD student, Casper Avenant, recently secured the Holsworth Wildlife Research Endowment Grant to support his research on predation of marine turtle eggs and hatchlings which aims to contribute to better management of an endangered species. The Endowment funds postgraduate students undertaking research in ecology, wildlife management and natural history and will go a long way in helping Casper as he delves into the predator-prey interactions between ghost crabs and sea turtles along WA’s Gascoyne and Pilbara coastline. Casper completed a Masters degree with CMER before commencing his PhD in 2019 in collaboration with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA).
Well done, Casper, in winning this commendable award.
