The Cyber Check.Me team spoke to over 100 small business owners and members of the community at the annual Wanneroo Business Expo held in The Pavilion at Mindarie Marina on Friday 13 September 2019.
The event which was held by the Wanneroo Business Association in partnership with the City of Wanneroo provided cyber students from ECU and North Metro Tafe their first opportunity to collaborate together on the initiative by providing valuable advice, handy tips and opportunities for small businesses to register for a cyber-consult that will help protect their business from the consequences of cyber-crime.
The stand also proved popular to those sweet-toothed attendees with over 60 entries in the Cyber Check.Me “guess the number of jellybeans” competition. Although a bit of fun, the competition also highlighted the high number of small businesses impacted each year in Australia by cyber-crime with the jar representing less than 1% of all those impacted.
A total of 27 businesses registered their details with the Cyber Check.Me team at the event with our “How Cyber Secure is Your Business” comic book proving popular.
