ECU Cyber Series: WA Cyber Security - Year in Review

A free 45 minute free presentation featuring guest speaker Peter Bouhlas, Acting Government Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in Western Australia who will provide an overview of the program of work by the Cyber Security unit from 1 July 2018.  Current works include vulnerability assessments, developing password strengthening mechanisms, server harding and developing the Australian Signals Directorate's (ASD) Essential 8 controls.

Peter Bouhlas is currently the Acting CISO for Office of Digital Government in WA and board member of the Security Research Institute at ECU raising cyber security standards, practices and maturity for the public sector and also developing WA’s cyber security strategy, threat intelligence, incident response capabilities and training and awareness.

As Senior Director, Information Systems and Performance Audit, for the Office of the Auditor General, Peter spent many years developing policies, plans and strategies for auditing Information Systems across the WA public sector with a large focus on cyber security, risk management, BCP/DRP, ICT strategy and governance.

As Project Manager for a software development company Peter has managed and led over 20 large-scale software implementation projects for Australian and international companies in agricultural, mining, oil and gas industries.   He has also spent time consulting for the World Bank and Asian Development Bank on a range of projects involving more than 15 countries on ICT strategies, projects and auditing.

As General Manager, Business Engagement and Policy at the Department of Health, Peter developed policy and strategic focus for ICT, including enterprise architecture, cloud, information sharing and management, clinical leadership, research capability, risk management, project management, clinical engagement and organisational capacity and capability.
