Ms Lia Smith

Overview of thesis

My thesis is looking at environmental DNA and how it can be used in Perth Metropolitan lakes for identifying fish species diversity and abundance. The environmental impacts of invasive fish species are vast and can change the landscape of an ecosystem. By releasing fish that have been bought for ornamental purposes into the local lake or river system, the entire ecosystem becomes threatened.
