Taxation knowledge is an important element of business success
Early stage taxation knowledge is an important element of business success as small business in all areas of the economy regularly fail, particularly in the second and third years of operation because of a lack of understanding of small business tax basics.
Despite the business concepts, marketing and strategy execution being good, businesses fail to account for GST correctly, fail to make provision for income tax or fail to record transactions properly.
Every business owner needs a high level overview of the taxation matters that impact them and their business. This course will give you a level of knowledge that will enable you to set up simple systems, record transactions and (importantly) give you enough knowledge to have informed conversations with an accountant or the Tax Office.
Delivered over two half-day sessions this course will cover topics that include:
Tim Roach was the Assistant Commissioner of Taxation at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) from 2013 to 2019 and is well known nationally in the taxation and accounting fields and has a particular interest in the future of the accounting profession.
Until recently he chaired the ‘Future Tax Profession Forum’; comprising the accounting associations including: CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Tax Practitioner Board and the ATO where he led research and consultation on a blueprint for development of the tax industry and future tax professionals. Tim consults to industry and is a Divisional Councillor of the CPA Australia.
