Description

This unit aims to provide the student with a basic background in the history of Indigenous writing and performance.

Elements

  • Demonstrate an ability to research historical information and deliver a short public presentation.
  • Demonstrate a basic historical knowledge of Aboriginal writers and their work.

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the following is essential:

demonstrated warm-up exercises
demonstrated self awareness
ongoing receptivity to learning
demonstrated communication in an ensemble
observation and interpretation of text
understanding and response to different styles of text
demonstrated vocal technique including breath and diction
spontaneity and creativity in presentation
observation of cultural protocols

Assessment

Assessment must ensure:

access to a range of relevant and current industry repertoire
access to an environment where presentation can be applied and discussed
access to appropriate persons for guidance
access to an acoustic space / environment for presentation

The following assessment methods are appropriate:

direct observation of the candidate presenting
direct observation of the candidate performing in rehearsal for presentation
oral questioning to test knowledge
