Internship Minor

This minor provides students with a unique opportunity to gain valuable 'real-world' experience in a public, private or not-for-profit organisation. It is an important vehicle for students to develop professional networks, practise applying theoretical concepts and principles learned during their degree, develop skills and capabilities required to succeed in their chosen profession, and gain a better understanding of the nature of employment and professional conduct in their chosen industry. The internship will be based on an agreed and approved program of work which aims to achieve predetermined learning objectives.

All applicants are required to have completed 180 credit points of their relevant undergraduate degree prior to enrolling in this minor.

Internship Requirement

The internship minor provides students with a unique opportunity to gain valuable 'real-world' experience in a public, private or not-for-profit organisation. The internship will be based on an agreed and approved program of work which aims to achieve predetermined learning objectives.

Attendance requirements

Students are required to complete 600 hours in the workplace (equivalent to 16 weeks of full-time work at 37.5 hours per week). The units can be combined to form one full semester of study. Students may also be required to attend on-campus preparatory, mid-point and end of semester seminars.

Application process

Enrolments to the Internship minor are by application only. Internships and partners will be secured through the Workplace Opportunities Coordinator and/or the Unit Coordinator, or as a result of pre-approved networking and contacts developed by the student.
