About this Specialisation
Primary health care is a universal approach to the promotion of population health.
A wide range of exciting primary care career opportunities exist across health and social care fields, in which practitioners have the opportunity to work with communities and families to facilitate health and social wellbeing. Primary health care practitioners are highly skilled individuals, who work autonomously as well as in multidisciplinary teams in planning and delivering health promotion activities, leading population health screening and managing chronic conditions. In this specialisation you will develop a conceptual understanding of primary health care and the importance of social determinants of health and health equity. You will also develop a critical understanding of the political and power-based influences on population health and ways to address these in your practice. The specialisation offers you the opportunity to learn with a wide range of health and social care practitioners. Through the assessments and a choice of electives, you can tailor your learning and skill development to your own field of practice.

- Critically apply research evidence and evidence-based practice principles to inform safe, person- and family-centred nursing practice in a specialised context, fostering critical curiosity and a commitment to ongoing evidence-informed practice improvement.
