Nurses working in an area of mental health are encouraged to enrol in this program where all aspects of mental health nursing will be covered.

Students are required to be employed in a mental health care setting for a minimum of 18 hours per week. Students are required to nominate a clinical facilitator to support them in the clinical setting and will be required to demonstrate their competency in accordance with the advanced practice standards of their related professional organisation. Students will also be required to provide an agreement of support from their employer to undertake the program.

Learning Outcomes
- Reflect critically on a complex body of Mental Health care knowledge, research principles and methods to demonstrate mastery of Mental Health Nursing practice.
- Apply cognitive and creative analytical skills to investigate, evaluate and synthesise complex ideas, concepts and theories in authentic mental health care situations.
- Apply and model communication and collaboration skills to analyse and design innovative contributions to professional practice.
- Use high level self-management skills to initiate, plan and execute a substantial research-based project.

Employment opportunities
Students are in a paid employment model to undertake this program and will therefore already be employed in a mental health setting. Undertaking this program will however, enhance their career advancement opportunities within the area of mental health nursing.
