Technology

Technology is at the centre of most things we do in the 21st century. But creative-thinking humans are behind the scenes developing software, managing online security, countering potential terror threats, performing data analysis and much more.

How can you study Technology at ECU?

We've grouped our undergraduate and postgraduate technology-focused courses into four categories where the outlook for careers is exciting. Scroll down to explore possible courses and careers.

Computer Science & Software Engineering

Your future looks good if you're interested in a career in computer science, software development or information technology. Why not explore our courses?

Finding the heart in the machine

ECU researchers are helping machines become more emotionally aware, using a new method that allows them to better recognise human facial expressions.

Student stories

  • I never knew I could enjoy maths and data

I didn’t initially choose Mathematics and Data Science but pivoted into the area from Engineering. I never knew I could enjoy maths and data until I had a few classes with some passionate ECU lecturers. Read Luke's story

  • The benefits of doing a work placement while studying

Bachelor of Computer Science student Mason learnt a lot during his Work Integrated Learning placement and was made to feel like he was part of the team right from the start.

  • My course at ECU equipped me to have a brilliant career

ECU's competitive advantage of focussing on practical learning and experience really appealed to me. The transition from working on systems in ECU labs to working on systems at mining and rail sites was seamless and a testament to ECU's high standard of practical experience. By providing an environment where I could safely discuss, challenge and test technical concepts, ECU enabled me to develop a resilient set of technical skills that I have carried through my career.
