This nationally recognised qualification is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in the music industry, giving them the knowledge and skills to become a performer, composer, song-writer or music producer. The course is delivered on campus at ECU City Campus and is now being delivered in Albany for students in the Great Southern area. As well as gaining essential theoretical knowledge, students will be assessed on their understanding of the specialised, technical, and managerial competencies required to work in the music industry. Students learn in a multi-disciplinary performing arts academy, and have access to hundreds of outstanding performances over the course of the year. Within the Diploma of Music Industry students can specialise in: - Creation and Composition, via the Music Production study option. - Performance, with study options contextualised to Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, Music Artist, and Singing for Music Theatre.

All applicants are required to attend an audition. This requirement applies to the Music Production, Music Artist, Jazz, Contemporary, Singing for Music Theatre and Classical study options. In addition, all applicants are normally expected to be turning at least 17 by 30th June in the year of commencing the course. As part of the application process, applicants will be required to complete a language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy skills and competencies review.
Portfolio pathway applications are not accepted for this course.
This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 5 Diploma Award.
Students may be required to attend evening and weekend rehearsals and performances. This course can be studied full-time at City Campus or Albany.
Students may complete a 16-unit specialisation in Creation and Composition or Performance. Within the Performance specialisation, contextualised content provides students with the option to study Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, Music Artist, or Singing for Music Theatre genres. The Creation and Composition specialisation focuses on the study of Music Production.
