Description

This unit aims to provide students with familiarity and competence in the use of the most commonly used digital platforms and applications encountered in an arts organisation. In particular, students will build their knowledge in: the use of software and digital applications for the production of documentation and digital presentations, and engaging in networked communications; critical use of online resources for effective research and information gathering; and managing the particularities of maintaining an organisation's web presence.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse a variety of digital media platforms related to the arts.
  2. Apply relevant software applications and digital technologies to manage the arts workplace.
  3. Communicate arts companies' requirements to a professional standard.
  4. Conduct online academic research related to the arts.

Unit Content

  1. Research processes using the World Wide Web and library databases.
  2. Theoretical and practical application of the key features of websites.
  3. Software demonstrations and practical application of commonly used web based and cloud based platforms.
  4. Digital media applications commonly used in arts organisations.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.
