Description

This units focuses on strategies pertaining to creating, developing and sustaining arts practices, organisations, and events, considering best practice board governance and key leadership styles for delivering strategic objectives. It details project planning and management activities undertaken by an executive producer and, through a study of resourcing, reporting and analysis, students apply skills in strategic decision making and gain practical experience through the preparation of an entrepreneurial project proposal. In addition, students learn how to mitigate risks in contract development and adapt communications to cross cultural contexts.

Prerequisite Rule

Students are required to have completed the former stage assessment unit ADM2616 Resourcing Arts Projects, Organisations and Events

Co-Requisite Rule

Students are required to complete ADM3601, ADM3602 concurrently or prior to completing the assessment unit ADM3603

  4. Strategic business and capital planning, management, and reporting.
  5. Strategic and project resource management.
  6. The theory and practice of cultural entrepreneurship.
  7. Collaboration and partnerships in the culture and arts sector.
  8. Philanthropy, fundraising and corporate sponsorship development strategies.
  9. Funding sources, applications and acquittals.
  10. Legal, ethical and cultural issues in the creative workplace.
  11. Risk mitigation and contract development.

All learning experiences are delivered online and attendance at scheduled virtual classes is expected.

Academic Integrity in Assessment Units

Integrity is a core value at Edith Cowan University, and it is expected that ECU students complete their assessment tasks honestly. This means that assessment tasks must be completed individually (unless it is an authorised group assessment task) and all sources used must be correctly referenced, including artificial intelligence tools.

Breaches of academic integrity can include:

  • Plagiarism: Copying the words, ideas or creative works of other people or generative artificial intelligence tools, without correct referencing.
  • Fabrication: Including references or content that does not exist.
  • Falsification: Including misleading information, such as using citations to support unrelated information.
  • Unauthorised collaboration (collusion): Working with other students and submitting the same or substantially similar work when an individual submission was required. This includes sharing your work with others for them to copy.
  • Contract cheating: Organising a friend, a family member, another student or an external person or organisation (e.g. through an online website) to complete or substantially edit an assignment.
  • Cheating in exams: Using or having access to unauthorised materials in an exam or test.

Serious outcomes may be imposed if a student is found to have committed one of these breaches, up to and including a suspension or an expulsion from the University for repeated or serious acts.

Assessment Extension
