This unit critically explores the cultural, economic and ethical dimensions of creative entrepreneurship within the creative arts. It examines how dominant cultural paradigms shape artistic production, access to capital and innovation, situating these dynamics within global socio-political contexts. Through philosophical inquiry and case-based analysis, students will interrogate the structures that influence cultural value, creative labour and entrepreneurial agency. The unit provides a foundational framework for developing sustainable, inclusive and ethically grounded creative ventures. It fosters critical thinking, professional rigour and cross-cultural awareness, preparing students to lead transformative projects in the creative arts sector with integrity and impact.
Students must be enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Creative Arts Entrepreneurship and Cultural Innovation, Graduate Diploma in Creative Arts Entrepreneurship and Cultural Innovation or Master of Creative Arts Entrepreneurship and Cultural Innovation.
