Description

The unit is a capstone unit for both the major in Management and major in Sustainable Business Management. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the fundamental concepts underlying the study of strategy, the process of strategic management, and the role of strategy in matching an organisation's competencies with its environment. The student will apply concepts in the analysis and development of strategies for business organisations.

Students must pass 240 credit points

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse business environments and strategies that contribute to organisational performance.
  2. Compare the processes of formulating and implementing strategy to contribute to the sustainable development of an organisation.
  3. Create a project report in written and oral formats by analysing a case study organisations strategy formulation and implementation.
  4. Explain the fundamental concepts underlying the study of strategy, the process of strategic management, and the role of strategy for an organisations competitive advantage.

  2. The external environment.
  3. The internal environment.
  4. The different levels of strategies.
  5. Strategic leadership and strategic approaches for sustainability.
  6. Strategic implementation.
