In this unit, students will cover key topics related to equity and social justice such as decolonising healthcare, unconscious bias, stereotyping and, discrimination. Learning activities will enhance students’ understanding of how these issues create barriers to safe and inclusive care and help them apply this knowledge in professional practice. The learning activities will also support students in completing assessment tasks. Students will complete an assessment task that will assess the integration and application of learning from stage units and assure their learning against the course learning outcomes.
Only students enrolled in J88 can complete this unit. Students in J88 must have completed NUR6201, NUR6202 and NUR6203

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit information may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
