In this unit students will explore the principles and practices of quality, safety and innovation in contemporary healthcare systems. Students will examine key frameworks, tools and strategies used to improve patient outcomes, reduce harm and drive sustainable change. Emphasising interprofessional collaboration and evidence-based approaches, the unit equips students to critically analyse clinical incidents, lead quality improvement initiatives and implement innovative solutions that respond to the evolving needs of healthcare consumers and services. Students will complete an assessment task that will assess the integration and application of learning from stage units and assure their learning against the course learning outcomes.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit information may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
