This unit prepares the student to work as an independent practitioner at an Advanced Paramedic level with emphasis on the development of advanced clinical examination skills. Students learn the structured approach for advanced clinical examinations and further develop knowledge in leadership, decision making and mentoring practices. Students explore the importance of human factors and how these impact upon patient care and clinical decision making.
Students are required to actively participate in online discussion activities during the semester. Students evaluate the breath of leadership and mentor responsibilities required in contemporary advanced paramedic practice to inform their ongoing professional practice. Problem based learning tasks will be used to develop clinical decision making. Case scenarios will provide opportunities for students to evaluate the impact of human factors in medicine. Advanced clinical capabilities will be demonstrated using digital technology.

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. Informal vivas may be conducted as part of an assessment task, where staff require further information to confirm the learning outcomes have been met. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant School Progression Panel.
