Description

This unit provides students with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in selected areas of professional writing required for entry into positions within industry, community, business and government.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Prepare and complete applications, submissions and tenders, fulfilling necessary criteria.
  2. Identify versions of English used across the world.
  3. Identify sources, conduct research, collate and express data for a range of document types.
  4. Employ appropriate stylistic conventions, visual aids, punctuation, grammar and register for each document types.
  5. Work co-operatively and collaboratively to prepare and give team presentation.

Unit Content

  1. Research, planning, drafting, revising, editing and proofing of reports, applications, submissions, tenders and other relevant professional writing documents.
  2. Oral/audio/visual presentation skills.
  3. Intercultural communication.
  4. Punctuation, grammar, style and register.
  5. Formatting of appropriate visual aids.
  6. Managing online documents and web content.
