History Major

History is central to understanding our world, and Australia’s place within it. Studying history enables students to develop the skills necessary to analyse evidence, detect disinformation, think critically, and communicate effectively. Covering a global scope, including Australia, America, Asia, this major allows students to explore local, cultural and social history as they consider topics such as national myths, empire, democracy, authoritarianism, slavery, revolution, war, and the environment. Students are also introduced to the philosophies and methodologies of history, and historical analysis and research.

  1. Apply broad knowledge of history to research, community and professional challenges.
