Inclusive and Special Education: Policy, Practice and Leadership Specialisation

The SPCCNS specialisation is intended for education professionals to enhance their experience and understandings of the broad range of skills required to be an effective inclusive educator. Professionals who will benefit from this unit set content may be working in general or special education school settings, post-secondary institutions (including TAFE) and community-based organisations that work with and support individuals with additional needs and their families. Including both theoretical and practical exploration of teaching strategies which improve learning outcomes for individuals with additional needs, the specialisation has a particular focus on the historical and contemporary context of disability, the implementation on evidence-based best practice, and skills necessary to become an inclusive leader. The content of these units will enable professionals working in general education classrooms, education support facilities or elsewhere within the community to create effective learning programs which are accessible for all.
