Entrepreneurship Major

The Entrepreneurship major has been designed to encourage students to approach their profession as an entrepreneur, equipping them with the wide variety of skills necessary to successfully develop and implement entrepreneurial ideas. At its core, it teaches students how to identify business opportunities and how to promote and manage new ventures. Students will develop the confidence necessary to bring their own ideas to market, start their own business or succeed as a corporate entrepreneur. Students will be given the opportunity to work with industry, participating in activities currently underway with the City of Joondalup, Small Business Development Corporation, ECU's Business and Innovation Centre (ECUBIC), and Enactus. Collaboration with industry will not only benefit students, but will also strengthen and expand the School’s industry relationships.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply broad entrepreneurial knowledge to a range of business situations, incorporating international/global/cultural perspectives.
  2. Access, analyse and critically evaluate relevant information to solve challenging new business problems systematically.
  3. Communicate entrepreneurial knowledge, concepts and advice persuasively and clearly in both written and oral formats, using relevant technology.
  4. Collaborate effectively in team settings to produce measurable outcomes.
  5. Generate creative ideas for business innovations that respond to opportunities and constant change.
  6. Reflect on feedback and critique one's own performance in order to identify and plan opportunities for development.
  7. Value professional behaviours and/or personal citizenship that reflect an appreciation of the interrelationship between business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
