This safe, welcoming space is available for children attending services at the Occupational Therapy (OT) Clinic for Children, as well as families attending the Child and Adolescent Health Services facilities.
Lorna Clarke MLA, Member for Butler, pledged funding for the ECU Health Centre Yanchep as part of her pre-election community commitments in 2025. The funding was earmarked for fitting out a children's play area and creating a low-sensory environment space.
The $10,000 grant was provided through the Department of Communities Small Election Commitments Grants Program, under responsible Minister Hon. Hannah Beazley, Minister for Local Government; Disability Services; Veterans; Volunteering; Youth; and Gascoyne. ECU committed a further $7,000.
The low-sensory room provides a dedicated counselling space to help neurodivergent clients to access therapeutic services safely, as well as providing a calming, low-stimulation area to support the mental health and wellbeing of staff and students. The children's play area provides a safe space for young children attending the OT Clinic.

Yanchep East opened in October 2024, offering a wide range of health services including student-delivered programs, and aims to be accessible and affordable for the Yanchep community. The centre offers general practice, urgent care, disability services, allied health and mental health services. The centre includes dedicated clinical training rooms to support work-integrated learning opportunities for ECU students and researchers.
"This project is a powerful example of what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared vision. It reflects our commitment to creating a safe, healthy and nurturing environment where children, families and community can flourish and build bright futures. We're grateful to Minister Beazley and Lorna Clarke for their contributions," said Professor Moira Sim, Executive Dean, School of Medical and Health Sciences and Project Sponsor for the ECU Health Centres.
Yanchep West is currently open for leasing. It is anticipated that additional services will commence in 2027. Together, the two buildings will create the largest community health facility north of Joondalup.
Yanchep and surrounding areas are the fastest growing urban corridor in WA, and the Health Centre aims to meet the health needs of the community. Thanks to the combined efforts of local, State and Commonwealth governments together with ECU, the special facilities which opened on 1 October will support the health and wellbeing of the Yanchep community, now and well into the future.
