The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) is one of Australia's premier performing arts training institutions.

A fundamental part of this success has been through the generosity of Edith Cowan University's (ECU) donor community, and its support of the Academy.

These contributions have had a lasting impact, creating opportunities for students to realise their dreams.

As WAAPA's profile is set to rise even higher on the national and international stage with its relocation to the new state-of the-art ECU City campus, there are many opportunities to support this exciting new chapter.

ECU Chancellor and Chairperson of ECU Foundation Gaye McMath said there is no better time to see the power of giving through philanthropic endeavours.

"Together we have the power to redefine what is possible for the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts - to elevate it to new heights, expand its global reach and inspire the next generation of performers, creators and cultural leaders," Chancellor McMath said.

"We thank all of our generous supporters for being part of this journey to secure WAAPA's place among the world's leading performing arts training institutions."

Executive Dean of WAAPA, Professor David Shirley, said from providing musical instruments or pointe shoes, to assisting talented students through scholarships and bursaries – there are many areas where generosity can make a difference.

"For more than four decades, the unwavering support of our donor community has been fundamental to WAAPA's growth and success," Professor Shirley said.

"As we step into a thrilling new chapter, philanthropy is more important than ever."

ECU is deeply honoured to have received a generous lead gift from the Minderoo Foundation, Principal Partner of WAAPA, that is transforming WA performing arts education. Part of this gift enabled the establishment of the Premier Visiting Artist Fund, allowing WAAPA to host world-class visiting artists across all performing arts disciplines, significantly enhancing its international reputation and enriching student learning.

The stage is set. We are now calling on help to bring it to life: The power of giving: Elevating excellence together.
