ECU Alumni honoured in the King's Birthday 2025 Honours List

Fourteen exceptional Edith Cowan University (ECU) alumni have been recognised in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours List.

Among the 830 Australians honoured, were those awarded with the Order of Australia (General and Military Divisions), meritorious awards and recognition for distinguished and conspicuous service.

Awardees are celebrated nationally for their outstanding contributions to community, public service and professional fields, these distinguished ECU graduates represent a broad spectrum of disciplines, ranging from education, business and law to health and science, performing arts and public safety.

ECU is proud to announce these Alumni have been recognised in the 2025 Honours List:

  • Deborah Gay Cruickshank OAM – WA Academy of Performing Arts
    For service to dance as a teacher and benefactor.
  • Irene Ioannakis AM – School of Education
    For significant service to the business sector in the field of vocational education and training.
  • Geoffrey Baldwin OAM – School of Business and Law
    For service to veterans.
  • Robin Cohen OAM – School of Science
    For service to the Jewish community of Perth.
  • Roy Dowsett OAM – School of Education
    For service to the community, and to youth.
  • Barry McKenna OAM – School of Education
    For service to the communities of Perth.
  • Martin Haime APM – School of Business and Law
    For distinguished service as a member of an Australian police force.
  • Gregory McDonald APM – School of Business and Law
    For distinguished service as a member of an Australian police force.
  • Danny Mosconi AFSM – School of Education
    For distinguished service as a member of an Australian fire service.
  • Shane Toovey ASM – School of Medical and Health Sciences
    For distinguished service as a member of an Australian ambulance service.
  • David Shilbury AM – School of Business and Law
    For significant service to sport management in a variety of roles.
  • Judith Sise OAM – School of Education
    For service to conservation and the environment.
  • Robert Gore AFSM – School of Science
    For distinguished service as a member of an Australian fire service.
  • Bernard Durkin OAM – School of Business and Law
    For service to community safety.

This year's Honours List again highlights ECU's commitment to producing graduates who not only lead in their professions but also give back to society in meaningful ways.

Youngest recipient

This year's youngest recipient is 19-year-old ECU Bachelor of Science Cyber Security student Scott Michael Guerini. Scott received a medal of the Order of Australia for his outstanding service to the community through his fundraising efforts for sick children and infants – a mission he began as a four year old!
