In the newly released QS World University Rankings, ECU has been ranked 487 globally, a rise of 29 places from last year. This achievement continues a trend of consistent year-on-year improvement in the rankings since 2022.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Clare Pollock said the result reflected the hard work and commitment of the entire ECU community.
"Breaking into the global top 500 is an extraordinary achievement and one we should all be proud of," Professor Pollock said.
"This result is the outcome of our collective effort, from innovative research and high-quality teaching, to strong community and industry engagement. It reinforces the value of our strategic direction and the passion of our staff and students."
The QS World University Rankings assess institutions across nine performance indicators. ECU improved on eight out of the nine, demonstrating broad-based progress in areas such as academic reputation, research impact, and international outlook.
"This is not just about rankings, it's about what those rankings represent and that is a university committed to excellence, equity, innovation and impact. We are building a global reputation while staying true to the values that make ECU unique."
The QS World University Rankings are widely regarded as one of the most influential global university league tables, alongside the Times Higher Education (THE) and Shanghai Ranking systems.
