The nine-level A-grade commercial building is located approximately 150 metres from the University's new City Campus, though it sits separately as a strategic investment that supports ECU's future growth.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Clare Pollock said the acquisition builds on what ECU is already delivering for students across its City, Joondalup, South West and Sri Lanka Campuses.

"This is about building on what we already offer across our campuses and creating even more opportunities for our students – and our staff," Professor Pollock said.

With ECU City now open and already bringing new energy into the CBD, this latest acquisition sees Perth City Link continuing to grow as a vibrant student and education precinct.

"Perth is evolving, and we're proud to be part of that transformation. Securing Kings Square 3 gives us the capacity to grow alongside our students and better connect them with industry and the opportunities that come with being in the CBD."

Kings Square 3 comprises approximately 9,500 square metres of office space, ground floor retail tenancies and basement parking. The building currently houses a range of commercial tenants, food and beverage operators, and an established childcare centre.

Several floors are currently vacant and will provide immediate flexibility for ECU education and research opportunities.

Meeting the demand

The University has already experienced significant growth in demand for the courses being offered at ECU City Campus and KS3 will allow the introduction of a range of programs not currently offered, particularly in the post-graduate space.

"This is about creating opportunities that simply did not exist in Perth before 2026. Opportunities for students to study right in the heart of the action, to collaborate with industry partners on their doorstep and to be part of a vibrant, connected university presence," Professor Pollock said.

ECU's acquisition of Kings Square 3 has been supported by independent valuation and solely funded by the University.
