Representatives from Edith Cowan University (ECU) have struck a deal with global healthcare consultancy, trainer, and recruitment agency Charkos Global to establish a comprehensive training and education programme tailored for international qualified Registered Nursing candidates.

The collaboration aims to address the increasing global demand for highly skilled healthcare professionals by creating a specialised pathway for qualified nursing candidates. The program will provide a balanced curriculum, integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical training to prepare nursing professionals for the dynamic and diverse challenges of the healthcare industry in Australia.

The training programme would have an initial intake of at least 50 students and could support registered nurses from India to migrate to Australia to assist in workforce shortage in the healthcare sector.

This partnership signified a pivotal step towards creating a global community of highly trained and culturally aware nursing professionals, ready to contribute to the evolving landscape of healthcare on an international scale, said ECU Executive Dean for the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Professor Karen Strickland.

"This partnership signifies a commitment to global excellence in nursing education. By leveraging the expertise of ECU with the infrastructure and resources of the Charkos Group of Institutions, we aspire to produce highly skilled and culturally competent nursing professionals capable of positively impacting healthcare outcomes worldwide."

A signing ceremony to cement the partnership was held at the Charkos Group of Institutions in Mysore, India, and saw the participation of key representatives, including Global Program Director and Founder of Charkos Global, Dr Seema Baliyan, who highlighted the mutual benefits of the collaboration.

"This partnership not only enriches the educational offerings at our institutions but also strengthens the bonds between our countries. We eagerly anticipate welcoming international nursing candidates, providing them with a comprehensive learning experience in the heart of Mysore," he said.

Key representatives present during the discussions included Charkos Group of Institutions Chairperson and Founding Director of Charkos Global Dr Shashi Baliyan, Director International at ECU’s School of Nursing and Midwifery Dr Tania Beament and Nurse Advisor to Charkos Global, Adjunct Professor Fiona Stoker.
