Fifty-nine Edith Cowan University (ECU)-affiliated researchers have been named among the top 2 per cent of scientists globally in the prestigious 2025 Stanford/Elsevier rankings, highlighting the university's growing research excellence and global impact.

The annual study, conducted by Stanford University and published by Elsevier, analyses the research performance of more than 10.9 million scientists worldwide, recognising those whose work is making a significant global impact.

Among ECU's standout performers for the most recent year are Dr Iqbal Sarker, from the School of Science, Professor Stefan Iglauer, from the School of Engineering, Professor Denise Jackson, from the School of Business and Law, and Professor Laichang Zhang, also from the School of Engineering.

These researchers were ranked within the top 10,000 globally, placing them in the top 0.1 per cent of scientists worldwide across all disciplines in 2024.

"This is a wonderful achievement for our researchers and a proud moment for ECU," Professor Caroline Finch, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), said.

"To see our experts ranked among the best in the world is an outstanding reflection of the impact, quality, and ambition that defines ECU's research community."

The Stanford/Elsevier rankings are based on a composite score that accounts for citation impact, co-authorship, and career-long influence, providing one of the most comprehensive measures of research excellence globally. Lists are provided separately for career lifetime citation impact and in the prior 12 months.
