ECU lifts global profile in QS Subject Rankings

Results from the latest QS World Ranking by Subject has showcased Edith Cowan University's academic excellence.

In the recently released QS World Rankings by Subject, Edith Cowan Univeristy (ECU) has again demonstrated academic excellence, receiving rankings in ten subject categories.

Sports-related subjects remain ECU's highest ranked subject area, with the Univeristy counted among the top 50 of the 1,912 institutions assessed in 2026. In Australia, ECU ranks in the top 9, showcasing its expertise and dedication to sports education and research.

ECU's Nursing program has returned to the global top 100, while Hospitality & Leisure Management and Computer Science & Information Systems have earned their first-ever rankings in 2026. Hospitality & Leisure Management has made a strong debut, placing within the world's top 150.

ECU's ranking for Performing Arts, Education, and Anatomy & Physiology have been maintained in 2026, with Performing Arts ranked within the top 150 globally and within the top four nationally.

"This is a pleasing result for ECU and reflects the dedication of our staff and students across key disciplines. To see nursing re-enter the global top 100, alongside strong performances in sport, hospitality, anatomy and the performing arts, highlights the quality and impact of our teaching and research recognised in the QS Subject Rankings," ECU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students, Equity and Indigenous) Professor Braden Hill said.

"We are proud to see our focus on industry-relevant education and student success reflected in the rankings."

Business & Management Studies, Petroleum Engineering and Medicine were among the subjects in which ECU received rankings.

The latest QS World University Rankings by Subject highlight ECU's continued focus on excellence in teaching, research and innovation across a diverse range of disciplines. The results reflect the University's commitment to delivering a high-quality student experience while driving meaningful contributions to knowledge and progress across multiple fields.
