Edith Cowan University (ECU) Professor Caroline Finch AO has joined a team of highly experienced researchers to undertake and further investigate the development of a new tool to support injury risk assessment.
The team which consists of members from the University of the Sunshine Coast's Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems and other organisations, including ECU, has received a Linkage Grant from ARC, worth $614, 650, over the next three years.

This team of academic researchers and industry partnerships a long history of working together on other ARC-funded research and the new tool will integrate with the highly successful incident report app, UPLOADS, they have previously co-developed. By bringing together human factors approaches and data science insights, this will allow organisations to better use their incident reporting data to enhance their injury risk identification and management procedures.
Originally developed for ensuring the safety of outdoor education and recreation activities, the enhanced risk assessment tool has the potential to extend and support widespread change across industries such as healthcare, mining, construction and transport in terms of work health and safety.
