Choose a flexible MBA for an ever-changing world

For many years, Master of Business Administration courses have developed and educated skilled managers and leaders across the world, enabling them to contribute to organisations in a highly effective and responsible manner.

In fact, it's a badge of honour to have an MBA on your CV.

But in today's rapidly changing, globally competitive environment, it's equally important that MBA programs adapt to the world around them.

For example, in the blink of an eye we've witnessed the challenges of the growing dominance of artificial intelligence and the overwhelming influence of social media as alternative communication channels.

In response, businesses are increasingly seeking talent who can keep up with the fast pace of today's technology and media landscape.

Flexibility is the key

Edith Cowan University (ECU) has long recognised this need for ongoing flexibility in their MBA, for example, incorporating ethical AI learning.

ECU's MBA provides students with the ability to respond to challenging situations in complex and modern organisations, enhancing their problem-solving skills, and boosting their interpersonal and relationship management skills.

Students can choose from a wide range of specialisations, such as Business Analytics, Design Thinking, Environmental Management, Healthcare Leadership and Management, or Supply Chain and Logistics Management.

Portrait of a woman MBA student Monique De Witt says the course felt like a way to get a head start in her field of logistics.

Current student Monique De Witt has a background in logistics and has reignited her passion for this critical industry.

"I decided to pursue an MBA to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge that usually come with years of industry experience. It felt like a way to get a head start," she says.

It gets even better in 2026

Monique graduates later this year, on the eve of the opening of ECU's ground-breaking new campus, ECU City, in the heart of Perth's business district.

ECU City will be like no other university in Australia.

MBA course students – both current and new – can look forward to facilities and opportunities that no-one could have dreamed of, even a decade ago.

This includes learning spaces and technology that encourages creative thinking and collaboration with students across different programs.

The campus is also well-positioned to develop stronger, mutually beneficial relationships with key industry groups.

It's the perfect place to study an MBA.

As MBA Director and Senior Lecturer, Naoise McDonagh says, "Our new home will bring together future-facing business education, creative industries and innovative technology, for an unforgettable career-accelerating MBA journey."

With the specialisations offered in the course, ECU's MBA brings together a diverse range of students every year, able to share experiences and already-developed skills.

This is often an intangible yet critical part of university courses, especially if students originate from overseas countries.

When recent MBA graduate Michael Lester enrolled in his MBA, he'd recently taken a stake in a local IT business.

"I recognised that there was a lot I still needed to learn, and an MBA seemed like the right tool to do that," he says.

"Studying the MBA got me out of my comfort zone and forced me to critically analyse what we were doing as a business and look for opportunities to improve."
