About this PhD Unit Set
Education research at ECU focuses on informing educational policy and curricula, enhancing school leadership to achieve school improvement, increasing teacher effectiveness, and improving student engagement and learning outcomes at every level.
Specific postgraduate research topics are developed in conjunction with the postgraduate coordinator or potential supervisor, however applications are particularly encouraged from students with an interest in: Curriculum and pedagogy Early childhood Digital futures Assessment and evaluation Educational leadership Professional learning Indigenous education Physical and health education Researchers in the School are currently involved in projects investigating digital literacies, educational leadership, early childhood education, literacy, cultural competency, and curriculum and assessment topics. The School also offers on-campus facilities and work spaces at both the Mount Lawley and Joondalup campuses, and supports off-campus students via a range of contact strategies.
Special entry requirements
It is desirable that all applicants do not contact potential supervisors before applying. Applicants will be matched with a suitable supervisor if successful in gaining course admission.

Candidates enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy Integrated (J42) may be required to attend classes on more than one campus to complete the research training component of the course.

Candidates are expected to meet regularly with their supervisors as part of the supervised independent research component of the course.
